What is Nipah virus (NiV)? Nipah Virus (NiV) is a viral infection that causes a severe disease in both animals and humans. In 1998 it was identified in pigs in Malaysia and after that it has been seen in humans , approximately more than 388 people were infected at that time in Malaysia. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), the natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family, Pteropus genus. It can be transfer through infected bat, pigs and human who have been infected. Symptoms of Nipah Virus (NiV)? Symptoms are Fever, Cough, Headache and Short Breath, In the early stage it's very difficult to identify the symptoms as it could be seen as normal cold or viral infection.
