What is Nipah virus (NiV)? Nipah Virus  (NiV) is a viral infection that causes a severe disease in both animals and humans. In 1998 it was identified in pigs in Malaysia   and after that it has been seen in humans , approximately more than 388 people were infected at that time in Malaysia. According to World Health Organisation  (WHO), the natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family, Pteropus genus.
